Elite Singles Review

Tired of being single?

Wish there was a dating site where you can meet like-minded, ambitious, professional singles?

We get it. Online dating in 2021 can be tricky because there are so many dating sites out there, as well as so many singles who are still not sure about what it is they’re looking for. This can cause you to waste a serious amount of time.

For many, this is where Elite Singles comes in, an online dating site established in 2009 that’s primarily aimed at educated, career-focused singles who are looking for something long-term.

In this EliteSingles review, I’ll be taking an in-depth look at this top-rated online dating site to see what it’s all about. I’ll be uncovering its best features, and how easy or difficult it is to find what you’re looking for, and I’ll also be sharing with you my own personal experience using the site.

What's EliteSingles?

Elite Singles is a premium dating site for ambitious singles who are looking for something serious relationships. Over 85% of Elite Singles' members are 30+ and more than 85% have a university degree. So, if you're above 30 and single then Elite Single is a good dating site to look at. Elite Singles uses a rigorous personality questionnaire (part of their matchmaking algorithm), instead of random location-based matches, to help you find singles that suit your dating and lifestyle preferences.

Who Is Elite Singles For?

If you’re an educated, career-driven single who’s looking for a long-term, committed relationship, Elite Singles might be for you. Whether you want to find a life partner or even get married, Elite Singles caters to romantic relationships between those who know what they want out of life, both in terms of their career and their relationships. It’s also mainly used by those who practice monogamy, but it’s still open to people of various sexual orientations. Basically, it's for singles with successful careers with no time to waste.

Who Is Elite Singles Not For?

Elite Singles won’t be of much use to you if you’re not looking to settle down just yet, and if you don’t know what you’re looking for.  It’s also not for hookups, it’s not used by too many 50+ singles and open relationships tend to be off-limits with most users.

Does Elite Singles Work?

Elite Singles itself claims to create around 2,000 new couples each month, and there’s a “success stories” page on the website dedicated to sharing members' stories of who found love using the site. So, in short, Elite Singles does work. If you’re looking to make a genuine connection and find either your life partner, romantic partner, or if you’re hoping to get married, it’s possible to find what you’re looking for here.

However, you still need to approach it with an open mind and be yourself. Success on Elite Singles may not come straight away, so you will need patience and a willingness to perhaps try new things and maybe even talk to people you previously wouldn’t have considered.

What Kind of People are on Elite Singles?

Elite Singles is used by people all over the world but most of its members live in the US, Canada, and the UK. Meanwhile, while there are some 50+ singles on this site, the great majority of users are aged between 25 and 40. And because over 80% of users have some sort of university degree, it’s safe to say that the site is predominantly used by educated singles who are career-driven, smart, ambitious, and who perhaps enjoy the thrill of a deep, challenging conversation.

You will also find successful professionals on this dating site who live busy lives, but who are looking for the “One” to finally settle down with.

Signing up on Elite Singles

getting started on elite singles

The Elite Singles sign-up process is fairly easy but there’s a caveat – it’s not a super-fast process.

This is because Elite Singles is for serious people who want serious relationships. As such, all new EliteSingles members are required to complete a questionnaire before their profile is live. The questions can be in-depth but the answers are multiple-choice, and if you’re prepared to be patient when it comes to finding the ‘One,’ I’m sure you won’t mind filling in a few questions first.

Indeed, the personality assessment is one of the most thorough I’ve ever seen on a dating site and was developed by professional, licensed psychologists. The end result is that the site uses your answers to help provide you with better potential matches (it’s, therefore, worth it).

The sign-up process also includes the basics, such as what gender you are and what you’re looking for. It’s also worth mentioning that, if you’re truly short on time, you can save the questionnaire at any point and return to it later.

Examples of personality questionnaires are, “how would you describe yourself? Warm, dominant, funny, etc?”

Profile Quality

EliteSingles profile example

As a free member, there’s not much you can do. For one thing, you can’t see someone else’s photos. Once you upgrade your membership, however, you will see that profile quality on Elite Singles is good.

Essentially, the profiles on this dating site tend to be very detailed. Each profile lists the basics such as whether or not they have children, what education they have, their height, and so on.

Beneath this, you’ll find their questions and answers, as well as a bio. All in all, it’s easy to glean a lot of information from someone's profile – enough information to help you decide whether or not you should message this person.

Also, there’s a “Personality Profile” on each member’s profile page. When you click this tab, you’ll see what Elite Singles says about their personality traits based on the answers they gave in the personality assessment.

Finding & Interacting With a Match

Finding a match on EliteSingles

The key to what makes Elite Singles so successful is its matchmaking process. This process relies on the answers you give in the personality test, which is why you must take the time to answer honestly. The more your answers reflect who you really are, the easier it will be to find a relevant match with whom you might make a genuine connection.

Elite Singles’s matchmaking algorithm looks at your answers, but it also employs smart profiling. In other words, it assesses what matters to you in terms of your values, goals (relationship-wise and professional goals), location, and overall lifestyle.

All this helps you get better match recommendations and compatible matches from Elite Singles.

Then, it suggests matches to you that it thinks are compatible. Each day, Elite Singles sends you between 3 and 7 highly personalized suggestions. It’s then up to you to decide whether or not you should send your profile suggestions a message or not. Or maybe they’ll send you a message first.

To find more matches, you can also use the “Have you met” feature that lets you tweak the search filters.

Elite Single uses a fraud detection system to ban fake users but be always careful and let your guards down.

Is Elite Singles Free?

Like any dating site, Elite Singles has a free version but you’re limited with what you can do. You can create a profile, take the test and add photos, but you can’t view other people’s photos. And while you can send likes and winks, you can’t send messages.

Elite Singles Features

Elite Singles is primarily used by members who can access the premium features. However, there are still one or two things a free member can do, too.

Free Features

  • Upload pictures – As a free member you can upload your photos but you can’t view anyone else’s.
  • Send winks – You can’t send messages as a free member but you can catch someone’s eye by sending them a virtual wink.
  • Send likes – This is kinda the same as the wink but it perhaps grabs someone’s attention a bit more, and it also adds them to your list of favorites.
  • Get matches – You can get matches as a free member but the catch is that you can’t send them a message just yet.
  • Favorite List – If there’s someone you like the look of, you can “like” them (see above) and add them to your list of favorites. It’s just an easy way of saving profiles so that you don’t lose them.

Paid membership Features

  • Advanced Search – The advanced search function lets you tweak your search filters according to things like income, education, kids, and location so that it’s much easier to find what you’re looking for.
  • Have You Met? – This sort of works like a roulette wheel in that the site generates random matches that you’ve so far missed.
  • Wildcard Matches – As a premium member, you get access to 20 more matches each day.
  • Premium matches – Unless you upgrade your account, you won’t get matched with premium members who can reply to your messages.
  • In-depth analysis of your personality test – With a paid account, you can see the results of your test.
  • See who visited your profile – This feature lets you know who’s checked you out.
  • Send and receive messages – Only paid members can both send and receive messages.
  • See other people's photos – As a free member, you can’t see anyone else’s photos.
  • Leave comments – You can also leave comments under someone’s profile as a paid user.

Elite Singles Membership Cost

  • 3 months – $32 per month
  • 6 months – $18 per month
  • 12 months – $17 per month

Is It Worth Paying For Elite Singles?

There are three subscription packages available, and you can choose to pay monthly or in one go for a fixed (and slightly discounted price). Compared to other online dating sites, Elite Singles is averagely priced which suggests that it’s worth paying for an Elite Singles account. This is because the site gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Essentially, you’re paying to use its sophisticated matchmaking capabilities, which in my opinion is one of the best around – especially for singles who want to meet someone who’s on their level professionally and academically.

Is Elite Singles Safe?

Like most premium dating sites, Elite Singles puts privacy and security at the top of its list of priorities. Your data is encrypted and won’t be shared with any third parties and the website is SSL encrypted. Once you delete your profile, your data is also deleted from Elite Singles dating app and its servers. Moreover, each new profile is verified before they go “live” which reduces the risk of you being contacted by a scammer. And if you’re unsure about the perils of online dating, you can check the site's Staying Safe page for more information.

Real Life Elite Singles Review

For the sake of openness and transparency, I signed up for Elite Singles myself to see what it was like.

A bit about me: I hold a bachelor’s degree and see myself as an educated, young professional. I was hoping to meet someone like-minded on the site who’s equally ambitious, aged between 25 and 35, and looking for the same things as I am.

The registration process took me just over 20 minutes to complete in all. I filled in the questionnaire, entered my details, and waited for verification. Once my profile was live, I upgraded to three months worth of Elite Singles – and started to search for other members.

I liked how detailed the profiles were. At a glance, I could see whether or not we’d possibly get along in real life, and this helped me to decide who to message there and then, who to add to my list of favorites (and this list is very convenient by the way) and who to ignore.

I was also struck immediately by how simple the user interface was – it was easy to make my way around the website without getting lost or frustrated.

And while I sent a few users an opening message, I also glanced through my daily suggested matches. Elite Singles says they’ll send you up to 7 daily matches, but most of the time I was given 3-5. This wasn’t too bad at all, and while some of them weren’t suitable, many were. Moreover, it’s a breeze to review matches and send them a quick message.

Within the first two weeks, I’d already exchanged several polite messages with a handful of users, as well as got chatting seriously to one or two more. In fact, I was even alive to arrange a date (which went well) and my overall impression of the site is that it’s easy to use, its matchmaking process is very in-depth and accurate, and most of the users are genuine and looking to make genuine connections. If it’s clear the two of you aren’t compatible, likely, one of you will just stop replying and move on (which is totally fine!).

Elite Singles Dating App

There is a dating app available that you can download from either Google Play or the App Store. It’s free to download but you still need to pay to upgrade your account. They use the same colors as the desktop version of the site, it’s responsively designed and easy to navigate. It also comes complete with all the same features, including the ability to send likes and winks and check your suggested matches. Ultimately, it’s ideal for those who want to use Elite Singles on the move.

How To Delete My Elite Singles Account?

To delete your Elite Singles account, you just need to enter the “My Account” section of your profile and select the deletion link. You will be asked for a reason as to why you want to delete your profile. Then, enter your password to confirm.

How To Cancel My Elite Singles Paid Membership?

You can cancel your Elite Singles paid membership but keep your account by heading over to the “My Account” section of your profile and clicking the cancellation link. Then, add a reason as to why you want to cancel, before entering your password to confirm.
