Digging for Love: This Dating App Puts Dogs First

Inside Scoop: The DigTM is a dating app created to cater to every dog lover’s interest in the dating world. The app supports dog owners by providing them with date recommendations and social events that are dog-friendly. In these suggestions, dogs and their owners can have fun and get exclusive deals on pet products. Dig has been around for a year and they have space to progress even further to match dog lovers everywhere. You can download this app for free on the App Store and on the Google Play Store

Dig is specifically built for Dog Lovers

In 2016, Casey Isaacson (Co-Founder of Dig) was dating a guy who tried to be a dog person for her. By the end of the relationship, he didn’t want her sweet Cavapoo in his apartment or he would put towels down on the couch so the dog didn’t touch anything. (It’s important to note that Casey’s Cavapoo Layla most closely resembles a Teddy bear.)

Casey wished she just knew from the start that the relationship wasn’t going to work because of her dog. Sisters Leigh and Casey knew that dog-lovers everywhere, like Casey, were anxiously waiting for this platform to exist so they could find a compatible, dog-loving partner of their dreams. They launched the app for iphones in selected cities in 2018 and nationally for iphones and Androids on Valentine’s Day 2019.

Market Understanding

When they started off, the most striking research to them was that 55% of single adults in the US are pet owners, with dogs leading the way – especially among millennials. The $75 billion pet industry is clearly booming, and the dating app world is also growing quickly at the same time.

Based on a survey, dating app users spend an average of 9-10 hours a week on their dating apps and use 3-4 dating apps at a time. Dating app users are dedicated, emotional, and are spending lots of time and energy looking for their right match, but all of that effort is a major pain point in the dating world because many say it feels like a second job!

So Casey wanted to help people cut to the chase and search in a dog-lovers only community.

They were also intrigued that ⅓ of people on dating apps never make it out to a real, in-person date. They wanted to create a dating app that encouraged you to get off the app and really meet the other person. So, they focused on connecting dog-people based on what is important to them: their need for their future significant other to be compatible with their four-legged companion and the lifestyle of being a dog owner or lover.

It’s the best way to find a compatible match and plan a dog-friendly date. You can search for someone with a dog or without a dog (yet)!

Dig also features adoptable dogs from Louisiana shelters in all Dig marketing and dogs from local rescues at Dig's dog-friendly events country-wide.

Dig goes Beyond Dating with Events

Dig in an incredible position to connect pet people in other ways – beyond dating. Their Dig dog-friendly events arm has grown tremendously because dog-people are begging for more places and events to go to where they can not only bring their dog, but where their dog is an integral part of their experience.

They've thrown Dig dog-friendly events in more than 15 cities now across the US and they are expanding quickly.

These events have become a unique way for dog businesses to meet each other, families with both kids and dogs to connect, friends to meet each other to have someone to go to the dog park with, and more. The Dig brand is about dogs and love, and through both the app and the events they're celebrating what that means and how pets can bring people together in so many wonderful ways.

People on Dig are there for real, compatible relationships

“If you tell me you’re a dog person, you’re saying more than just what kind of pet you want to own. Immediately, I understand you to be more compassionate, trustworthy, responsible. You believe in putting effort into relationships, understand the importance of clear communication, and can commit.

You’re showing me you have the capacity to love, which in the difficult world of dating is a treasured asset to be mined and cherished,” said Leigh Isaacson.

Dig is built for dog people to find each other and connect in this more open, realistic way. It's hard to be pompous and pick up dog poop at the same time. People on Dig are there for real, compatible relationships. The app has unique features to plan a dog-friendly date and offers unique deals to pet companies of all sizes so Dig daters can show up with a unique treat and win over their date's dog from the start!

Dig is a great dating app that actually understands what dog lovers want. This app urges singles to be faithful to the dogs who are faithful to them and to find people who think the same. Since its release, Dig has cultivated a “paw-sitive” space where online daters who love dogs can discover support and love.
