Tinder Gold Review 2023: Is Upgrading Worth it?

Are you thinking of upgrading to Tinder Gold, but wondering if it's worth the extra cost?

As with any subscription service, the answer depends on your individual needs and preferences.

Does Tinder Gold automatically = more matches?

Or is it just a waste of money that lands you one or two more matches while causing you more stress?

If you’re currently facing this same dilemma, join me as I take a look at Tinder Gold.

Because after putting it to the test myself, I have come to the conclusion, “Is it worthy or not?”

Let’s find out …

The free version of Tinder lets you send messages, you get to swipe right on a limited number of people per day, and you get one super like per day. And that’s about it. Tinder Gold, on the other hand, is locked and loaded with lots of key features:

Tinder Gold Features:

  • See Who Liked You

One of Tinder Gold’s biggest selling points is that it lets you see who’s already “liked” you.

Why is this so cool?

With the free version of Tinder, people will still swipe right for you. But unless you upgrade to Tinder Gold, you won’t be able to see who they are.

“That’s fine. I’ll know who they are when I match with them.”

That’s true.

The problem is that you may never match with them.

Why?

Because of the Tinder algorithm.

See, a person could swipe right for you. But that same person might be way down in your queue, which means you’ll need to swipe through hundreds of profiles until you reach them.

Sometimes, profiles are so lost in our queues that we never reach them. This means that, even if they’ve swiped right for us, we never even get the chance to swipe right for them and make it a match.

It sucks – but this is where the See Who Likes You feature proves so useful.

The See Who Likes You gives you a complete overview of every single person who’s already swiped right for you. All you then need to do is take a closer look at their profile and decide whether or not to swipe left or right for them. It saves you a LOT of time, and it also means you never miss out on someone. This one feature alone can make Tinder Gold worth it.

  • Unlimited Likes

With the free account, you can only swipe right on a certain amount of profiles per day. This can be a major annoyance if you’ve used up all your “likes” when someone you REALLY fancy pops up in your queue!

With Tinder Gold, you get access to Unlimited Likes, which means you can swipe right as much as you want.

It’s a useful feature for those who generally swipe for lots of people during the day in the hope of landing a match, but it can also be counterintuitive because you may end up matching with someone you’re not actually keen on!

  • 5 Super Likes Per Day

With the free account, you get 1 super like per day.

What’s a super like, though?

A Tinder super like is represented by a blue symbol. You’ll see it at the bottom of the screen whenever you’re viewing a profile. Essentially, if you super like them, your profile jumps to the front of their queue, which means they’ll definitely see you.

The idea is that, because the Tinder algorithm makes it really hard to get seen, people use the super like whenever they definitely want to be seen. Because you can only use one per day, though, it means you have to be REALLY selective.

Tinder Gold nets you 5 super likes, which is the same as saying that it will put you at the front of the queue for 5 different people. However, most users generally find that there are never 5 people they want to super like for one day (this was true in my case).

Moreover, the super like actually has a bad reputation. Some users see it as a bit embarrassing – and even desperate.

  • 1 Boost Per Month

Boosts are never free with the free Tinder account. If you’re on the free account and wish to boost yourself, you have to pay every time.

With Tinder Gold, you get one free boost per month.

What’s Tinder boost, though?

A boost essentially puts your profile closer to the front of the queue for more profiles over the space of 30 minutes. Because getting seen is one of the things that makes Tinder so tricky for some people, the boost is a great way to increase your visibility and get more matches. It’s an excellent feature. Find here the best time to use Tinder boost.

  • Rewind

Ever been casually swiping on Tinder and swiped left for a hottie by mistake?

Damn, if only you could revisit their profile and swipe right!

Unlike dating sites like POF, which come with a proper search function, Tinder is built in such a way that every swipe is final. Unless you have Tinder Gold, that is.

Tinder Gold’s rewind feature allows you to go back to a place and review the profile you just swiped left or right for. Bear in mind you can rewind at any time, but you can’t go farther back than one profile at a time.

It’s an especially useful feature for people who are sometimes a little bit absent-minded when they’re swiping.

  • Curated Matches

The curated matches feature can prevent endless swiping by picking out 4 – 10 Tinder Picks each day. These picks are selected just for you based on your previous swiping history. In other words, they’re tailor-made to suit your personality.

It’s a really cool feature for people who get tired of endlessly swiping on Tinder in pursuit of compatible people. It saves you a lot of time and – speaking from personal experience – the matches are usually very on-point.

  • Passport

The passport feature is ideal if you’re traveling elsewhere soon because you can use it to find users who are further afield. For example, you can use it to find potential matches living in another city, and you can even use it to find potential matches living in another country.

Now, the free version of Tinder lets you adjust your “distance” so that you can find matches thousands of miles away. However, the difference with the Passport feature is that you also show up in the search results of people who are living thousands of miles away.

For example, if you’re traveling to Peru soon but are currently based in the U.S., Tinder won’t allow you to show up in a Peruvian queue unless you’re within the local vicinity. However, you can change all this by using the Passport feature. It allows you to “pretend” you are currently located anywhere in the world.

Of course, you must be ethical with this. Make it clear in your profile where you’re currently based, but that you’re planning on visiting X soon and would love to meet some new people.

How Much Does Tinder Gold Cost?

tinder gold prices

Tinder Gold’s pricing is very dynamic and seems to vary over different countries. At the moment, you can get it for just under $25 per month. Also, remember, that when you first subscribe to Tinder Gold, your account will automatically renew each month unless you pop into your settings and change your preferences.

Is Tinder Gold Worth It?

Tinder Gold is worth it if you're a frequent traveler and are already receiving frequent likes on Tinder. With the ability to see who liked you, you can speed up the process of matching. The 5 super-likes a week help you to stand out from other Tinder users. Then, you got one Tinder boost a month to increase your visibility and get more matches. By changing your location to another state or nation, you can explore more. All these features make Tinder Gold a useful subscription.

However, if you're receiving no likes whatsoever then Tinder Gold isn't going to make much of a difference. For that, you need to work on your Tinder profile or try other dating apps.

Here's How I Used Tinder Gold For Maximum Results:

So I gave Tinder Gold a try for a whole month.

Here’s what I learned:

The first thing I did was use my free boost. I made sure to add my best pics, I sorted out my bio – and I waited to see what would happen.

Thankfully, I got 20+ new likes over the space of half an hour. Even better, I was finally able to see who liked me in one glance! Within minutes, I was swiping left or right on the women who’d liked me, which meant that – within 40 minutes of upgrading to Tinder Gold – I had 13 new matches.

Wow.

I genuinely felt that it was quite impressive when I tried it. I won't lie – I didn’t hit it off with every woman I matched with. But I was still able to set up 3 dates within the space of the first week of using Tinder Gold, which I consider to be a success.

I’ve also been partial to using the Super Like in the past. But because you only get 1 Super Like per day, it was rare that a woman I’d “super liked” matched with me. Now that I was using Tinder Gold, I was averaging 2 new matches per day thanks to the Super Like.

The curated matches worked well for me, too. Once again, I didn’t hit it off with every single woman, but I was averaging 2 new matches per week thanks to this feature.

All in all, Tinder Gold helped land me 7 dates and 71 new matches over the space of a month. Was it worth it? I determined through my tests that it is absolutely worth it.
